A recent poll of religious beliefs from members of a very large Lutheran Church body revealed the following:

that fully 80 percent stated that the Bible is not necessarily the Word of God. 

Now here is where we get to the "crux" of the matter. If members of a church or church body do not believe that the Bible is the Word of God than it is not surprising that they would hold to and believe all kinds of things that are not based on the Bible but rather on their own ideas and opinions.

What that means in a practical way is that a church or church body that rejects the truth that the Bible is the inspired and inerrrant Word of God cannot remain a church or church body that teaches the truth.
